Are you serious?
Please come and work for us for half a month, we won't pay you, but if you take enough of our shit we might throw you a bone some day (never).
I am considering responding to this ad, getting the job and then beating the christ out of the person who wrote the ad.
Or maybe it would be a better idea to lock it in and just show up and steal all of your expensive gear.
Just kidding, those are all really bad things to do. I hope I didn't put any ideas in any crazy people's heads
Location: Are you fucking high?

Crew wanted
Date: 2012-01-17, 10:20PM PST
Hi I am a very important new filmmaker (i.e. a nobody) and I have this fantastic idea (it sucks really) for a FEATURE film to be shot on the SCARLET RED ALEXA 5D (isn't that the latest buzz camera?). I am looking for a full crew, especially a DP with the camera and support gear, like a dolly crane, car mounts, some sky hooks, you know, all the cool stuff that will make my movie amazing. Of course I don't have any money as this is for a start up but you will get lots of exposure (I have a big family) and I will promote and recommend you to other wannabe filmmakers (so they can take advantage of you as well). Then, when I make it big I will use you on my next FEATURE FILM (of course I wont pay you much then, maybe minimum wage). Please don't respond unless you have at least 5 FEATURE FILMS under you belt and you can provide all the equipment and other crew needed. OH yeah I forgot to mention you must have lights and sound gear to. I am so important you will be lining up to work with me for free because I am an award winning filmmaker.
Location: LA LA LAnd
Compensation: Why should I pay when there are suckers willing to work for free.

Stupid Assistant DP/Gaffer Wanted
Date: 2012-01-03, 1:16AM PST
It's obvious you don't know what you are doing hence your project will be a total waste of time anyway.
Learn the terminology first - a Director of Photography is the visual master, the expert in lighting who controls what your film looks like. A DP doesn't have to operate the camera, only if he/she wants to - when not, that becomes a job for a separate camera operator person.
So a credible offer from you (besides higher pay) would give the DP title to the one who will set the lighting, regardless of who physically handles the camera. You can't take the DP title for yourself since by your own admission you know nothing about lights (except maybe how to turn them on). No self respecting real DP would or should accept your demeaning request.
Sheesh - these galling craigslist requests are hilarious, keep 'em coming!!!

I'm a Director who also plans on DP'ing a webisode comedy pilot for a major online youth portal.
I'm a capable camera operator, but am relatively inexperienced with both generating lighting plans, and setting up lights, and am looking for an Assistant DP to help with those tasks.
Credit and potential future employment pending a series order from the youth portal.
Please send a resume and reel, if available.
Thank you.
