Director of Photography/Camera Op

Will everyone of you Hack-ass DPs running around with a camera just quit. If you're working for free then you suck and you will never make it. The only thing you accomplish is washing out the job market and driving down wages for the rest of us. And to all of you HACK-ASS Producer want-to-be's, obviously you have no taste or you wouldn't be hiring these no talent, camera having, quasi professionals to shoot your productions. Wake the hell up and stop insulting us with these ads! Stop trying to get skilled labor for free. Slavery ended in 1865.
If you want a good, loyal team, PAY YOUR CREW. We don't need meals/copy/credit. We can't pay our rent with that. If you cannot afford to pay us, then you cannot afford to shoot your short/webisode/pilot/feature/music video (you fill in the blank). Gas is much too high to drive and work on these "jobs" for free, at least cover our gas. Raise the money and then hire your crew. Keep your stupid bagels and lunch. We don't want it. Pay us!

Question for all of you cheap ass, non professional, and unethical "Producers" out there. Will bagels and lunch pay your F@*cking rent, car payment, credit card bills?!! Will lunch pay enough so you can take your girlfriend, wife, or daughter out for a nice dinner. GIVE ME A BREAK.

For all the silly producer/director-half-ass-actors-who-really-wants-to-direct, want-to-be's pretending they have a real life gig to offer for a DVD and potato chips - you need to post at your local college bulletin board or hostel. You'd have more respect if you just posted on the "erotic" post and offered a blow job in return. The idea of a none paying job is an oxymoron with an emphasis on MORON. You losers need to post on the community boards where it's expected and understood. But most of all you need to stop wasting everyone's time here (gigs / creative / tv & film) and stop sucking up bandwidth on the web with your silly little weekend iMovie projects and save what little respect you lost by offering no money and a silly IMDB credit on a project that you can't even muster the conviction, courage or personal credit to finance. "Big named actors and emmy winning director" - really don't care - and if they had it like that what the hell are they doing on CL trying to farm out "experienced editors and dp's" who'll take all of there vast experience and give it to the anonymous retard who wants to make a short/music vid/feature for free? ... Internship predators

Flag all the internship predators who are undercutting everyone and who think they can get a professional as an intern because the job market is so bad!

Search all the intern interns internship internships deferred pay crap and flag if they are the least bit predatory!
All sorts of businesses want their workforce to be all inters so they don't have to pay! This is ILLEGAL. Businesses who need repairs, web gurus, editors, you name it, stuff that has nothing to do with their business want true professionals! They are expected to "intern"! Hell I should put an add up for a car mechanic to fix my compression problem and tell him he is "interning" after being proficient enough to do the actual job I can't do!

If you are a set photographer or an aspiring one, the first rule of thumb is to NEVER let any production take advantage of you, your time or your talent. I see all these ads day in and day out offering no pay or very low pay ($50-100 day, really, working at 7-11 pays that). This is not right for our industry.
Little hint to all... Set photographers should be earning $250-$350 per 8 hour day on Low Budget projects and $500 Day on mainstream stuff (Movies/network shows). This DOES NOT include your box rental which you should be charging between $75-$200 per day for your equipment depending upon the project and what you are using (in addition to your day rate).
The Economy may be bad, but our talents deserve every penny that we earn.
(This is just some good solid advice, not an employment offer)
