The Craigslist posters act as though copy credit meal is some kind of favor they are doing for us.
The reality is that what the are offers is worthless.
To add to this the have the never to make demands of a crew they expect to work for them for free

So you need a PROFESSIONAL - (pick your category) Editor, Composer, Director, Sound Mixer, Sound Designer, whatever.
And you want to offer deferred pay, backend points, or a paid gig next month on your short film, web episode or pilot?
Well tell my bank, my credit company or the grocery store that I'll be getting that money (right??) some time soon.
If you can make a film, then pay the people who help you do it! If not then go F**K yourself!

And just a reminder to all producers and crew - minimum wage in the state of California is $112/12. And after 12 hrs, it becomes $16/hr, meaning it's $128/13, $144/14, etc....
I know we all need to work and to pay our bills, but accepting anything less than minimum wage hurts us all. Stick together and hold your ground! Send a strong message to production that if they don't have the money to pay ALL of their crew at least a legal wage, then they don't have the money to make a movie!

Perhaps your 1st AC bailed because you're paying them an ILLEGAL rate!!! California State Minimum Wage is $112/12. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! and it continues to go up $16/hr after that, meaning $125 is less than minimum after 13 hrs, etc.
Producers: come back when you've actually got the budget to make you project (and that means paying ALL of your crew at least minimum wage)
Crew: I know it's rough out there. I know it's been slow and we all need to pay our bills. But PLEASE - do us all a favor. JUST SAY NO! Stand up for yourselves and for all of us. Where do I begin? First, it is illegal to state an age requirement for this job. See eeoc.gov. Second, do you really think you will find an experienced casting director who is in his/her early to mid 20s, with a portfolio who will work for free? Why limit yourselves? Why not also require that they be willing to cook and walk your dogs? Shame on you for trying to take advantage. You state "If it goes well we may continue to work together." If you aren't paying, it already isn't going well. Again, shame on you. Include top 3 bands/musicians, films, tv shows, and comic books???? What??? And this helps you get the talent you need...how? After production credit and copy will be given.
In regard to PAY: Do you think we would be posting this to Craigslist if there were pay?
We're looking for someone who wants something fun to do to help a group of filmmakers out. If it goes well we may continue working together.
Our team is currently in development on two other projects, so a basic non-disclosure (confidentiality) agreements will be required.

Please come and work for us for half a month, we won't pay you, but if you take enough of our shit we might throw you a bone some day (never).
I am considering responding to this ad, getting the job and then beating the christ out of the person who wrote the ad.
Or maybe it would be a better idea to lock it in and just show up and steal all of your expensive gear.
Just kidding, those are all really bad things to do. I hope I didn't put any ideas in any crazy people's heads
