While I get what you are saying, people look in the gig section to find PAYING work, however short term it may be. Internship ads belong on the job boards - but many of the people aren't really looking for interns - they are looking for free labor and post in the gig section so they don't have to pay for the ad either. And then they wonder why they don't get the quality of work they were hoping for...
And if it's not an "internship" and it's just plain ol' unpaid, in my book, that's "volunteer" work - and there is a section on CraigsList for that too.

If you're annoyed by it, just click the "paid" button on your screen when you search. Some of us might be interested in them.
